Pitching An Article To Creative Screenwriting Magazine --
Summary Of Writer Contract Terms:

This page is a summary for your guidance and is not the final agreement.


Summary:

1. Our writer agreement is a "work for hire" agreement under which we buy all rights but grant the writer certain uses.

2. Basic pay tiers for interviews is 15 cents/word for Q&As and for new writers we have not tried, 20 cents for non-Q&A articles by  experienced writers, and negotiated higher pay per word for reporters who do a lot of digging and research.  Pay for CS Weekly  articles is 7 cents/word.

3. If you pitch an article to us, you have a perfect right to pitch it elsewhere at the same time.  However, good etiquette means you should tell us right away if you and another publisher agree to have you write that article for that publication.

4. You agree to deliver the work by our first writer deadline for the issue unless we agree otherwise. There are late submission penalties.

5. We agree to pay within 30 days after we sent  the magazine to the printer.  This can be as late as six weeks after your deadline.  

6. You warrant that you own the rights or have secured rights to the content of your submission.
    
7. The agreement is made under California law, and provides for mediation, then if necessary arbitration, in Los Angeles n case of dispute.
