to their morale.
- Writers
reported that script analysts and consultants performed such a

Other
Questions And Answers:
Why pay for this publication?
It used to be free with a Creative Screenwriting
subscription, didn't it?
No. This
kind of study has never been done before.
In
the past, one of the most popular Creative Screenwriting
Magazine
reports was an annual article on the “best” script
consultants. It was a great idea, but it had its
limitations. It was done by sending just one
“mystery” script to 20+ chosen consultants, and
then having
their analyses/consultations reviewed by the Creative Screenwriting
editorial team.That
was probably a reasonably good method for evaluating
a small
number
of high-profile consultants based on one writer's needs.
However, the great majority of
practitioners of script evaluation services for writers was
left
out entirely. In addition, each writer has his or her own script
consulting needs. The business is not a "one size fits all"
business.
Finally, the script consultant who got the
highest rating from this one narrow analysis was effectively anointed
with the title of "best script analyst." This was terribly
unrealistic and unfair to all other script analysts and consultants,
given the widely diverging needs of writers.
We widened the net. We obtained a much broader set of
information (more than 100 individual data fields).
And instead of having a small editorial staff review the
work, we
received evaluations from nearly 1,000 writers on more than 200
individual analysts/consultants.
What
format is it published in?
It is a PDF file. Initially
the report was published as an online digital
page-flip publication. This was found to be unpopular.
Writers wanted to download it. So we made it a PDF
file. |
