did not perceive this kind of offer as being unethical.
- A few writers said the reports they got were worse than useless, and were actually damaging to their morale.
- Writers
reported that script analysts and consultants performed such a wide
variety of services that it is impossible to tell one from the other by

Hiring The Right Script Consultant Vastly Improves Your Chances
Of Selling, Optioning, Landing An Agent, Getting Other Writing Work
70% Give Script Analysts/Consultants A “Recommend” –
But Learn Which Analysts and Consultants Are Rated Best ...
Of
all writers who had their scripts reviewed by professional analysts,
nearly 90% adopted the analyst/consultants recommendations, and
then –
- 11% subsequently sold or optioned that script (at least 20 times the average for all scripts)
- 10% got hired for other writing work
- 30% won or placed in a contest with that script (an amazing statistic, considering that contests receive between a few hundred and several thousand entries!)
- 10% landed agents with that script.
With
more than 100,000 screenplays written each year, those numbers are a
resounding endorsement of the value of script analysis/consulting
– if you choose the right analyst or consultant for you.

Other
Questions And Answers:
When will the survey be published?
We expec to have it ready about March 31, 2010.
We'll publish it as soon as we finish analyzing the data, format it, and send it off to the printer.
Why A $29.95 ($24.95 discount) publication?
It used to be free with a Creative Screenwriting subscription, didn't it?
No. This kind of study has never been done before.
In
the past, one of the most popular Creative Screenwriting Magazine
reports was an annual article on the “best” script
consultants. It was a great idea, but it had its
limitations. It was done by sending just one
“mystery” script to 20+ chosen consultants, and
then having
their analyses/consultations reviewed by the Creative Screenwriting editorial team. That
was probably a good method for evaluating a a small number
of high-profile consultants. However, the great majority of
practitioners of script evaluation services for writers was left
out entirely.
We widened the net. We obtained a much broader set of information (more than 100 individual data fields).
And instead of having a small editorial staff review the work, we
received evaluations from nearly 1,000 writers on more than 200 individual analysts/consultants.
What
format will it be published in?
Initially
the report on individual consultants and analysts will
be published either in print magazine or directory format or
in a copyright-protected secure PDF. Later,
depending on how much data we receive, we may make the
additional investment to convert the information into an online
database. |
